The Island of Ashenport, also known as the Isle of the Ruby Moons, is about a 6 hour boat ride from the shores of Gryphon’s Bluff. The island is home to a lone city which shares its name. The town of Ashenport is a mostly self-sustaining farming and fishing community. The bountiful supply of fish has enabled the town to trade with numerous towns throughout Luminaria but any funds brought in from such trade are merely icing on the cake. Even in the worst of times, the island was able to thrive due to its rich farmland and abundant fishing, providing for themselves even when traders stayed away.
When Ashenport was founded, it was dedicated to Pelor and Melora, and the people of Ashenport were as devout as any followers of the two deities. A little over a century ago though, the town started to fall on hard times. The crops were withering and failing to produce. The fish were much less plentiful, and for the first time in its history, the town was struggling to survive. A murmur grew within the town that Melora and Pelor had abandoned the town and its people. As the discontent grew, The One Who Hears intervened and offered to aid the town if they would simply convert and dedicate themselves to him. Although many were reluctant at first, most soon converted when the town’s fortunes reversed almost overnight. Within a few years, those few who did not convert had either left on their own accord, or been driven out of town.
The One Who Hears’ favors did not come without a price though. Every year, He would send out a call for servants and those present in town who did not already serve him found themselves drawn to the sea where they were soon turned into a horrid cross between man and fish. The One Who Hears did not choose Ashenport at random either. For the island housed a secret: Pelor’s on the Heart of Haemnaethuun. Breaking the seal would not be easy, but the One Who Hears was patient, and he was ready to strike when the Seal was ultimately broken.
